Members of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police on Sunday night arrested a youth who was interviewed and quoted in a recent Deutsche Welle -Netra News documentary on elite force Rapid Action Battalion in a case filed in 2021.

The youth, Nafiz Mohammed Alam, 23, shown in the documentary as a survivor of torture in RAB custody, was arrested at a location in Bashundhara Residential Area in Bangladesh capital Dhaka, DMP officials said.

‘Nafiz was arrested at his house (in Bashundhara Residential Area) last night as per an arrest warrant issued recently in a case filed in 2021,’ DMP’s Gulshan division deputy commissioner Abdul Ahad said.

He said that he was accused in a number of cases, including cases under Pornography Prevention Act.

The metropolitan police’s media wing said that Nafiz was also prosecuted on Sunday in a new case filed under the Narcotics Control Act.

Vatara Police Station officer-in-charge ABM Asaduzzaman said that the arrested youth was sent to court on Sunday morning for taking next legal action.
